SC 2nd Lowest State for Taxes

The Palmetto State ranks 2nd in the nation for the lowest tax rates, according to a recent report from Bloomberg. Their annual rankings of state taxes shows the South as a taxpayer friend, while the Northeast is anything but.

Rounding out the top 5 lowest taxed states:

1. Mississippi

2. South Carolina

3. Tennesee

4. Alabama

5. Alaska (OK... not a southern state, by far.)

 

And the states that tax their residents the most?

1. Connecticut

2. New Jersey

3. New York

4. Massachusetts

5. Maryland

    We may be the lowest but we tax a lot of things that other states do not. I am not so sure we come out ahead as taxpayers.
